Here are some little tips on how to secure and affix your Harper Boater.
Start by popping the comb clips to open them up then holding the crown of your boater in one hand and with your other hand pull the elastic up and over your head so it sits scooped backwards behind your ears (elastic can be worn straight down under your chin but to keep it sleek and hidden we prefer using this method.) Your Harper boater should now be sitting directly on top of your head.
If you are wearing your hair down fix your hair into position around the elastic.
Decide which side you would love your Harper boater to ‘perch‘ (personally I love to perch mine on the left) gently tilt your boater into position.
Once tilted (if to the left then use the right comb clip, if to the right use the left comb clip) pull the little black comb clip (in my case I would use the right one) gently outwards and then scoop it back into your hair by gently pushing it and then popping it to close. It should now be affixed into your hair, this may require a few practice attempts first but once you have the hang of it, it will become easy.
If wearing your hair up in a bun this is when you could gently move the elastic up from the base of your neck so it sits right under neath your bun, just to keep it all looking sleek.
Now for the key ingredient, use mini kirby grips on the elastic to secure fully into position. I use them right near the top of the elastic so they’re hidden underneath the brim of the hat - if wearing your hair down you could also fix a few under neath your hair if needed.
Now your Harper boater should be perfectly perched, enjoy styling her for those very special occasions!
